My Journey to Creating VIITTA HOUSE

I’ve always believed that creativity is something we are born with — but often forget as life leads us in different directions.

I grew up in Russia before moving to England at the age of 11. From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer and expressing myself through art and textiles.

After graduating with a degree in Textile Design from Central Saint Martins in London, life didn’t unfold the way I imagined. Like many creatives, I struggled to find stability in the fashion industry and eventually followed a more conventional path, qualifying as a family lawyer.

For nearly a decade I worked in law, but something inside me always felt disconnected from who I truly was.

Everything changed in 2019, when I discovered macramé.

What began as a simple creative practice quickly became something much deeper — a form of meditation, self-expression, and reconnection with creativity.

In 2020, while on maternity leave, I made the decision to follow that calling and founded VIITTA HOUSE. 

The Vision Behind VIITTA HOUSE

VIITTA HOUSE is more than a macramé school.

It is a place where fashion, craftsmanship, and mindful creation come together.

Through our courses, workshops, and retreats, I teach the art of macramé fashion design — helping people transform simple cords into wearable pieces of art.

But beyond the techniques, VIITTA HOUSE is about reconnecting with creativity, confidence, and purpose.

My vision is for VIITTA HOUSE to become a global school for macramé fashion and mindful creation — a place where creativity, fashion, and personal growth intersect.
